We roast all of our coffee in Portland, Oregon.
-
Yes. We collect bags throughout the working week, then we stash them outside our bay doors every Thursday morning at 7am. If you swing by 340 SE 7th Ave on a Thursday morning, you’ve got a good shot of snagging some burlap bags.
-
We’ve recommend folks drink their coffee within two weeks of opening their bag. While coffee slowly loses its freshness/pleasant aromatics (faster once it’s ground), there is no health risk to drinking older coffee.

We’re proud to carry some organic coffees, but it’s a bit of a complex issue. Earning that “certified organic” sticker is extremely expensive for farmers, especially in developing countries where coffee is produced. Navigating the expense and red tape of organic certification would put many of longstanding partners out of business for good. We’d prefer to support farmers (who produce their crops without harsh chemicals anyways) than focus on a sticker that would keep these folks from being able to support their families and communities.

The best way to brew coffee is the way you like best! There is no technical “best way” to brew coffee. We are glad to offer suggestions based on what coffee brewer you have or what coffees you tend to like. We have some brew guides on our site that give recommendations for various brew methods.

Safe Quality Food
The Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program is a rigorous and credible food safety and quality program that is recognized by retailers, brand owners, and food service providers world-wide. Recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), the SQF family of food safety and quality codes are designed to meet industry, customer, and regulatory requirements for all sectors of the food supply chain – from the farm all the way to the retail stores.
Organic
Organic Certification means that farmers and businesses have met strict standards for the growing, processing and handling of their products. If you see the USDA organic seal, the product is certified organic and has 95 percent or more organic content. Organic production emphasizes natural processes and ingredients.
Kosher
Kosher Certification is the stamp of kosher approval by a rabbinic Agency verifying they have checked the products ingredients, production facility and actual production to ensure all ingredients, derivatives, tools and machinery have no trace of non-kosher substances.
